A 15-member Indian cricket team, led by captain Rahul Dravid, left this morning for Dhaka to play three one-dayers and two Test matches in Bangladesh.

Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Wasim Jaffar, V V S Laxman, Anil Kumble, Rajesh Pawar, V R V Singh and Ramesh Powar, who are included only in the Test squad, will join the team on May 15.

The condition of Dravid, who was hit on his nose while practising on the penultimate day of the conditioning camp here, has improved considerably.

A scan was done on his nose and it was found to be “okay”, team sources said.

Dravid, in his interaction with the media after the team’s photo session at a hotel here last night, has said, “I feel I will be able to play the first match in Dhaka on May 10”.

The captain said all the players were eagerly awaiting the series and he was expecting it to be an interesting one.

“I am looking forward to this tour in Bangladesh. I strongly believe that we have the capability to perform well and it is going to be an interesting series,” he said.

Dravid said they wanted to start afresh and on a positive note in their first assignment after their World Cup debacle.

India will play the first two one-dayers at Dhaka on May 10 and 12 and the third match at Chittagong on May 15. Thereafter, they will play the first Test match at Chittagong to be followed by a Test match at Dhaka.
