Jagapathi Babu, one of the charming heroes of Telugu cinema as the Second Hero-cum-Villain for the project THAANDAVAM, which is being made in both Tamil and Telugu under the same title.
Jagapathi Babu made his debut in Telugu Cinema with the movie “Simha Swapnam” in the year 1989. The movie, starring rebel star Krishnam Raju in the lead, was directed by his father. He had his breakthrough in the form of “Gaayam” directed by Ram Gopal Varma in the year 1993. Since then, he has given several hits. He won the Nandi Award for Best Actor in 1996 for his role in the movie “Maavi Chiguru” directed by S V Krishna Reddy. Two years later, he won the Nandi Award for Best Supporting Actor for the film “Anthahpuram.”
In 2000, he won the Nandi Best Actor Award for the second time for his performance in the movie “Manoharam”. Similarly, he bagged the Nandi Best Supporting Actor Award for the second time in the year 2007 for his role in the movie “Lakshyam”.
Jagapathi Babu recently completed his 100th film and is making a change in his career by accepting a powerful second-hero cum villain role in Thaandavam. He is the son of popular producer and director V.B. Rajendra Prasad, who produced several hit films in Tamil with Legend Sivaji Ganesan.
Thaandavam commences with a test shoot on 30th November in Chennai and the full fledged shoot begins in January 2012. The will be shot majorly in many locations of USA, Delhi and Chennai.
Thaandavam has the principal star cast of Chiyaan Vikram, Anushka, Amy Jackson, Jagapathi Babu, Santhanam, Nasser and many others. The film has music by G.V. Prakash Kumar, Lyrics by Na. Muthukumar, Editing by Anthony, Art Direction by Nagu and written & Directed by Vijay. The film is produced by UTV Motion Pictures.
The film will be a 2012 summer release.
