SAFETY FIRST: Participants at a road safety campaign organised in Chennai on Saturday. Justice P.D. Dinakaran, Judge, Madras High Court, flagged off a road safety awareness rally here on Saturday.

The rally was organised to create awareness of the need to obey traffic rules and road safety by the Tamil Nadu Social Workers Organisation, Madras High Court Advocate Association and City Traffic Wardens. Speaking on the occasion, the judge urged road users to obey the rules and ensure safe driving. He commended activist K.R. Ramaswamy for his contributions to road safety related programmes.

Madras High Court Advocates Association president R.C. Paul Kanagaraj stressed the need for motorists to wear helmets while riding two-wheelers. He appealed to them to avoid using mobile phones while driving and not to drink and drive.

About 50 two-wheelers participated in the rally, which started from Muthusamy Road, and passed through Sydenhams Road, Vepery High Road, Harris Road, Anna Salai, Wallajah Road, Kamarajar Salai and reached High Court campus. Chief traffic warden, Harish L. Metha, was present. Source:TheHindu
