US-based Cable News Network (CNN) on Tuesday announced plans to expand its operations in India in recognition of the country’s growing global influence by opening a new editorial office in Chennai.
“The rapid growth in India in terms of global business and regional political influence underlines how crucial these appointments are as part of CNN’s international expansion,” senior vice president of CNN’s International news-gathering Parisa Khosravi said.
The news network has also appointed new correspondents for New Delhi and Chennai.
With the appointment of new correspondents in New Delhi and Chennai, the CNN hopes to combine its strength with its sister network CNN-IBN and have a powerful editorial presence in India, said Khosravi. Source: Hindu
