After Villu it’s ‘Vettaikaran’ for actor Vijay. A film produced by A.V.M. Balasubramanian and B. Gurunath Meiyappan for AVM, ‘Vettaikaran’ is the first project under the AVM banner that the actor will play the lead.

The film also marks the debut of director Babu Sivan, who has, for the last few years been with director Dharani. He has worked with Vijay earlier on ‘Gilli’ and penned the dialogues for ‘Kuruvi.’

“I am really excited. It is such an honour to work for an AVM production starring Vijay as hero. His appeal and reach are just amazing,” says the debutant director. “It will be a completely commercial film, with great songs, action sequences and a message.”

After much contemplation and thought, the team chose Telugu heroine Anushka to play the female lead. After a role in the Tamil film ‘Rendu’ with actor Madhavan, she got very busy in Tollywood.

The crew has a strong contingent of technicians, including cinematographer Ravivarman, music director Vijay Antony, art director Milan and editor V.T. Vijayan.

To Vijay Antony, whose ‘Nakka Mokka’ took Kollywood by storm, this film means a lot. So, will he come up with energy-packed numbers that the hero can effortlessly dance to? “Absolutely! It is a lot of responsibility when you work for such a big banner and hero. Of the six songs, five will be songs that you’d love to dance for. Fans of Vijay always have great expectations on the songs and I am really looking forward to working on this project,” he said.
Remake plans

The unit plans to begin the shoot next month and is aiming for a Deepavali release. “We have been planning to work with Vijay for a few years and we are really glad we came together,” said Mr. Balasubramanian.

Apart from this film, at AVM “we are looking at a few remakes like that of ‘Anbe Vaa,’ ‘Sakalakalavallavan’ and ‘Nallavanukku Nallavan’ with leading stars,” he added. Source: www.hindu.com
