In a press meet held for Pokkisham, Cheran stated that the film will be presented through the protagonist’s standpoint, while he flips through an old diary and his memories. When a reporter asked Cheran whether he is trying to repeat the successful formula of Autograph, the director replied that he chose the story because it was close to his heart and not because he wanted to exploit an already tried concept. He also added that it was very difficult to film this story, as it happens in Kolkata of the 70s and it required immense hard work to replicate the old charm of the city.
