Movies titled after popular Tamil film songs have become the order of the day.

Thanks to State government providing tax exemption on films titled in Tamil, producers and directors have started to zero in Tamil songs for titles.

After Vettaiyadu Villayadu, Gowtham Menon had titled his next film Pachaikili Muthusaram (the beginning lines of a popular song in MGR’s Ulagam Sutrum Valiban). Now Selvaraghavan has joined the list.

For his forthcoming Tamil venture, Selvaraghavan has opted for Idhu Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam, which again are the beginning lines of a popular yesteryear melody.

After the moderate response for his Pudhupettai, Selvah ventured to do a Telugu movie starring Venkatesh and Trisha. Early next month, he would be back in Kollywood to direct Idhu Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam.

The movie features Suriya’s sibling Karthik and Kadhal Sandhya in the lead. Music is by Yuvanshankar Raja and cinematography by Aravind Krishna.

Selva’s new floated production house, White Elephants, produces the film for Dream Land Movie International.

Idhu Maalai Nerathu Mayakam would commence on 3 November.
