Tamil cinema seems to be in the grip of re-make fever. First in line was ‘Naan Avanillai’ followed by ‘Billa.’ Next is the re-make of the Balachander hit ‘Manmadha Leelai’ and the beauty of it is, Balachander is himself re-making his old film!
The old ‘Manmadha Leelai’ starred Kamal and was a super hit. This story is suitable for any time frame, so with a few changes to suit current time frame, Balachander will direct the new version. Dhanush was first chosen to do the title role but he did not want to damage his image by doing this adult role and backed out, so Jeeva was the next choice. He also hesitated, especially since Balachander’s ‘Poi’ did not do well. But Jeeva has not yet said no, so he is still in the reckoning.
Jeevan is causing a stir by doing playboy roles, so Balachander has his eye on him. So, it is still a confusion as to who will do the title role. Anybody may act in it and anybody may direct it, but one thing is for certain. The film will definitely feature the hit song, “Hello, my dear wrong number!” Source:TamilStar
