Balachander told… the reason, “Devadas, Laila Majnu and many other love stories were successful only because of tragic end. Lovers would remain eternal lovers when they don’t unite. If they unite that becomes marriage, the bond that brings disgust and responsibilities. So I like lovers remaining as lovers. Let that go as tragedy, I don’t mindâ€Â
