Periyar, the feature film based on the life of rationalist leader and founder of Dravidar Kazhagam, E V Ramasamy, would be screened at the Goa International Film Festival to be held in November. Director of Periyar film, Gnana Raja Sekaran, told reporters here on Thursday that two Tamil films, `Periyar’ and `Ammuvagiya Naan,’ were among the 21 films included in the Indian Panorama Section.

21 feature films and 15 non-feature films from the country, including the now controversial Hindi film Dharam, have been recommended for screening at the 38th International Film Festival to be held in Goa next month from November 23rd to December 3rd.

The films were selected by a five-member jury headed by noted filmmaker K Sethumadhavan.

The Tamil Nadu government had funded for the production of the film, in which popular Tamil actor Sathyaraj donned the role Periyar.
