Bajaj Fans launches Generator Sets

Chennai, 10th January, 2011: Bajaj Fans – a well established leading brand, offering all kinds of Fans for consumer as well as industrial use, is diversifying in to new product categories. After the successful launch of Domestic Pumps, Bajaj Fans is now entering into the Portable Generator Business.

Even today Indian consumers face scarcity of power across the country which makes Generators as a product with huge potential. Currently the market penetration of Generators is low and to tap into this huge potential market, Bajaj plans to enter the Portable Gen-set market with its unique offerings.

Bajaj Generators are unique as they run on LPG GAS (unlike others run on Petrol, Diesel or Kerosene), which will result in running-cost savings up to 35% besides being environment-friendly with less pollution. To start with Bajaj Generators will be available in four capacities 800 VA, 2500 VA, 2500 VA and 5000 VA Auto-start. The range will expand in capacities and CNG option will also be available. Soon petrol and diesel versions will also be added.

Mr. R. Ramakrishnan, Executive Director, Bajaj Electricals said “Diversification is one of the method which we are adopting for growth of Bajaj Electricals. We plan to get into potential product categories which complement our current offerings to the consumers and Generators is one of them. Our Fans Business has done very well and we have a good brand name with excellent distribution and service network. We are leveraging our strengths to make our customer’s experience delightful. We plan to be one of the leading players in Generators in next 3 years.”

Mr. A S Radhakrishna, President, Fans Business Unit said “With the Demand vs Supply situation in Power sector being pitiable, there is a huge un-satiated potential  in domestic House-hold segment for Portable Generators. I strongly believe, if we can offer a good product at reasonably good price, then the SUPPLY will create Demand. Hence the thrust is on Portability and easy operation for the convenience of even a house-wife.”
