Purple Note launches Soul Call by Chandrika Tandon at a live conference.

Purplenote, a contemporary non-film music label launches Chandrika Tandon at a live conference in Chennai. Purple Notes vision is to seek, fund, produce and market contemporary Indian artists. The latest in their list of artists is Chandrika Tandon a successful business woman, who has created a contemporary devotional album called, Soul Call. She seeks to express new age devotion through her music and strong voice.

Music has always been an integral part of Chandrika Tandon’s life. Her new CD, Soul Call, is a testament to that love and passion of music that has defined her since her earliest days. A melding of Carnatic, Hindustani, and Western influences, Soul Call draws in the listener with a healing mantra enveloped in classical Indian ragas. It’s an album that resonates with people of all cultures, as indicated by the tremendous response from listeners – “The peace and tranquility the CD provides is indescribable…”, “Absolutely beautiful…”, “This music is lovely to listen to and spiritually calming…thankyou!”

Purplenote will remain a talent promotion label only, and they believe that if the content is of superior quality, and if the marketing strategy is accurate, the result will be a successful music album.
Purple Note is a division of SPI Music, owned by Managing Directors Mr. Kiran Reddy and Mr. Swaroop Reddy. SPI Music is a Chennai-based company in other music business, notably, Think Music, a label that works with film-music exclusively.

CHANDRIKA KRISHNAMURTHY TANDON

Chandrika Krishnamurthy Tandon celebrates the grace that exists in our innermost selves. Her musical and spiritual journey has been guided by great masters from Carnatic, Hindustani, South American and Western traditions.

Her 2nd album, SOUL CALL, released in Oct 2009, combines an ancient Sanskrit chant with eight classical Indian ragas with western and eastern musical arrangements. Continuous recitation of the mantra’s eight phonemes- Om Na Mo Na Ra Ya Na Ya- is said to form a protective armor during cell renewal in the eight vital centers of the body.

Recorded both in India and the US, Soul Call incorporates world-class musicianship and production. The album combines traditional Indian sounds such as sarod, sitar, and esraj with Western instruments such as piano, electric bass, and classical guitar. The instrumental arrangements are by Tejendra Narayan Majumdar, a global sarod maestro.

Soul Call is a not for profit initiative – 100 pct of the proceeds will benefit organizations in the fields of community building, arts and spirituality . Soul Call has partnered with over 40 organizations to date.Thousands of copies of Soul Call have already been sold in the US by word of mouth alone.

In 2009, Chandrika formed the Hindu Community Choir in NY in Queens and Manhattan. Working with over 150 seniors and children, she is creating ground breaking combinations of western choral traditions with ancient Indian chants and ragas and bringing together a unique community in music. Chandrika also leads chanting sessions for thousands of people in meditation and yoga retreats.

In other spheres of life, Chandrika Tandon an active participant in business, global education and spirituality. She chairs Tandon Capital Associates and the Tandon Foundation, and serves on the board of Trustees of NYU, NYU Stern School of Business and NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. She plays a leadership and advisory role in the American India Foundation, Indo American Arts Council and Pratham.

EVER GREEN 80’s met up

August 29th the top most actors and actresses of south India who were from the 1980’s met up to celebrate unity and brotherhood for the second year

Like the first this second re union was organized by Suhasini Maniratnam and hosted by Lissy Priyadarsan
Rajnikanth was present like last year , but in addition 5 others southern super stars Chiranjeevi, Mohanlal ,Venkatesh, Sarath Kumar and Arjun joined the 80’s re union

The event was called EVER GREEN 80’s and 29 people confirmed their presence

They were Ranjnikanth , Ambareesh, Chiranjeevi moahanlal Venkatesh Arjun sarathkumar, prabhu, Karthik, Mohan, Suresh, Suman ,Naresh, Bhanuchander ,Prathap poten, Mukhesh, Shankar

Ambika, Radhika,Suhasini,Sumalatha,Poornima Bhagyaraj,Shobhana, Lissy, Radha ,Revathy, Nadhiya, Ramya Krishanan, Khushbu

It was an evening of friendship , art, music , dance and happiness

This is the first ever artistes club in the world to have only actors and every year the class of 80’s batch decided to meet in a different state.

Unique feature is that all the actors are from South India Tamil Nadu , Andra , Kerala, Karnataka …

Manipal University signs MoA with LV Prasad Film and TV Academy

Chennai, August 26^th, 2010: Manipal University, the pioneering force in higher education in India, today announced the signing of Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the L V Prasad Film & TV Academy.

Manipal University (MU) and L V Prasad Film & TV Academy (L V Prasad Academy), with a mutual vision to add value to the Media & Entertainment industry and the student community, have come together to provide their expertise to potential students of management, focusing in the field of Media & Entertainment. L V Prasad Academy will be an Academic partner with Manipal University, by providing academic training, infrastructure and networking links with the industry to fulfil the educational needs of the students enrolled. Under the scope of engagement, L V Prasad Academy, among other activities, shall also provide to the students industry interface and placement assistance with Media and Entertainment companies.

The two-year MBA program in Media & Entertainment (4 semesters, full time) offered by Manipal University comes with a specialization in Film or Broadcast in the 4th semester. The first three semesters of the MBA program will be conducted in Manipal University’s M&E campus in Bangalore, covering all General Management subjects and media & entertainment case studies. The remaining one semester (i.e. 4th semester) will be conducted at various industry organizations; for students of film & broadcast specialization, in the 4^th semester, the students could choose to train at L V Prasad Academy, Chennai. This will include actual production and post production techniques, the process of film making, understanding Broadcast and other sectors of the media & entertainment with hands on exposure at the LV Prasad Academy.
