A charity art show in aid of care, education and shelter for children affected & infected with HIV/AIDS organized by People AIDS Initiative
AIDS has influenced art and the artistic world and art in return has played a vital role in response to AIDS all over the world. Art can express things in a way not possible with facts and figures through whatever form it takes – sculpture, painting, mixed media and more.
art aids… is an exclusive limited edition series gathered through the generous support of artists who have offered them for free to raise funds for the shelter of children affected and infected with HIV/AIDS. Affordable prints on canvas and board are made from the original for people to buy especially hand-signed and numbered by the contributing artists and all the sale proceeds goes for the care, education and shelter of these children.
60 pieces of gallery quality artwork will be featured and exhibited at Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and New Delhi in collaboration with Apparao Galleries and Muse Art Gallery, Hyderabad Marriott Hotel and Convention Centre. The participating artists who have contributed their originals are Trotsky Marudu, Mark Rathinaraj and K. R. Santhana Krishnan; and images are Farhan Mujib, Niloufer Seth Siddharth, P. G. Dinesh, George K, N. Ramachandran, Bhavna Sonawane, and Suresh Kumar.
ABOUT People AIDS Initiative
People AIDS Initiative is a people movement to help and support homes taking care of HIV/AIDS affected and infected children in Tamilnadu. To achieve this goal, it brings together Government & Non-government Organizations, Corporate & Business homes, Individuals & Groups of people from all walks of life to collectively contribute to the care, education and shelter of these children and to challenge stigma and discrimination. Mrs. Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi is its principal patron.
AIDS stigma and discrimination exist worldwide and children are the worst affected. Together, they constitute one of the greatest barriers to dealing effectively with the epidemic. Initiatives such as this is most important to draw attention to the AIDS pandemic, to facilitate spreading awareness of the disease, promoting ways in which people living with it may be assisted, and helping prevent fresh people from becoming infected in the future.
The chief guests for the event are Actor Karthi Sivakumar, Mr. Virender Razdan, GM, Sheraton Park, Fr. Christie sj, Director LIBA, Mrs. Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi, Editor and Publisher INBOX 1305, and Ms. Sharan Apparao, Apparao Galleries. The Art Aids… Planning Committee was headed by Fr. A. Raj sdb, Patron of PAI, along with its members Mr. Mark, Ms. Jayanthi Somasundaram and Mr. Xavier Britto.
